Given the dimensions of the streets, it can be more complicated and slower to travel by car, especially if you want to spend the day in the center. I bet you have seen small metal circles on some sidewalks or door knockers on houses. There is a reason for these; in the old days people went from one place to another on a donkey or horse. When they went into houses, shops, or canteens they tied their animals to these knockers.
