Visit San Miguel, you will never want to leave.

By Fernanda Noriega

Eugenio Noriega Tovar is a San Miguel architect who loves the architectural beauty of his beloved town, as well as the history it guards behind every wall. When asked how a day that is perfect for him begins, Eugenio tells us that one of his favorite morning activities is going for a walk and breathing in the fresh air. Then, drinking some good coffee near his house, a book under his arm; and sitting down to read for a while in the shade of a jacaranda is never a bad idea. Although he likes to be outdoors, he also loves spending time in a quiet and colorful downtown cafe. When asked which coffee he likes best or what his favorite breakfast place is, even without thinking he responds that Café Terra is one of his first options. That is thanks to the taste of the food and drinks, and the great atmosphere, its peace and tranquility. The cafe is located in the La Lejona neighborhood, at Vicente Araiza Street # 31.

An interesting question to pose to a local is what places they would recommend to someone visiting San Miguel for the first time. Because he knows what he would like the first impression to be, Eugenio responds “The first thing is for you visit and stroll through the streets of the Centro, look for a tour guide and enrich yourself with the history of San Miguel. Do not forget to visit the parish of San Miguel (it is not a cathedral!) Walk through the streets of Centro, and if you can go out, visit the archaeological site of Cañada de la Virgen. “Do not to miss the symbol that represents the city worldwide: the Paroquia, but do not forget to go to the outskirts and get to know the Heart of Mexico on foot.”

Eugenio also says that “In the future, visiting all the squares and everything that awaits you in San Miguel and its growth will be very good.” He is referring to the plans already underway in San Miguel, to create new spaces and more variety to bring enjoyment to all tastes.

To close his perfect day with a flourish, Eugenio says he enjoys getting to know new, good roof-top terraces. Visiting those is one of his, his friends’, and his family’s activity because they can appreciate all the street lights, especially at this time of year. Above all, he feels that he is lucky to live in San Miguel.
