In San Miguel de Allende we are preparing for one of the biggest celebrations throughout the year: The Fiesta de Los Locos in honor of the hortelanos, San Pascual Bailón and finally San Antonio de Padua, whose saint is commemorated on June 13. Around 5,000 participants are expected, who after two years of waiting will finally be able to perform the traditional parade and dance through the main streets of San Miguel to end at the Jardín Principal. Don’t miss the details in our pages and take the opportunity to take pictures, enjoy and capture the essence of this colorful festivity.
In the first pages of this edition you will find the analysis of the results of the past elections in various Mexican states, with the triumph of 9 women in the governorships, an unprecedented fact in the country.
Our columnists and contributors share their opinions this week on the unfortunate massacres in the United States and the control of gun sales. We will learn about the experience of English writer Steven Richards and his research in the archives of the newspaper Atención San Miguel in the 1990s in Mexico—when the Zapatista guerrilla movement gained strength—, in order to narrate important chapters of his ongoing historical novel.
