With top-quality facilities and a municipal investment of approximately 900,000 pesos, a new CrossFit training center was inaugurated in the «Baby Vázquez» module of the Municipal Sports Council (COMUDE) of San Miguel de Allende.
The inauguration was attended by José Alfredo Orduña Rodríguez, general director of the Municipal Commission for Sports and Youth Services, and the Secretary of Public Security, Gabriel Saldaña Yáñez.
Not only will the municipal police force train at the new CrossFit center, but the new sports center will also be open to the public. This will help San Miguel’s youth to maintain healthy habits and help prevent involvement in crime and drug use, according to Eduardo Soto, advisor to the municipal administration, who added that there will be specialized coaches on hand with a top-level training team. The training center inauguration included an eight-minute demonstration by members of the Municipal Police of San Miguel.
The new CrossFit center aligns with the city’s new public security strategic plan, which has a goal of providing professional training for all elements of the Secretariat of Public Security, Traffic Police, and Civil Protection. Their training schedule will occur at times that don’t interfere with use of the training center by the public. Tentatively, the center is scheduled to be open to the public from 7-9am and 4-8pm and to security elements during the hours in between. CrossFit is a high-intensity fitness program incorporating elements from several sports and types of exercise, with a focus on cardiovascular and respiratory resistance, muscular resistance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, psychomotricity, balance, and precision.
