Handcrafted jewelry at Mercado Sano San Miguel de Allende: Mexika

By Jose Alfredo Gutierrez Falcon

Can you imagine going to a jewelry store and being able to make your own jewelry? You are now able to do this. Gaby Moreno came up with this idea and has made it possible at the Mercado Sano in San Miguel de Allende. There you will find a fabulous gallery of rings, bracelets, necklaces, hats, and textiles.

If you want, you can simply buy the pieces you like best and wear them home, or you can learn how to create them by taking a three-hour workshop with their designers. After rubbing elbows with the artists and enjoying the handling of the materials, you can take home the jewelry that you made yourself.

This is an ingenious idea—to teach the secrets of making handmade jewelry and share the secrets of jewelry making that have been developed for thousands of years. Every stone, every metal, is a mystery and a direct connection with the vibration of Mother Earth.

The stone material in each piece sends out a message and can help us with our health. Mexika brings us closer to the magic of minerals. It helps us find beauty in each stone, to complement our personality, and to feel more strength, balance, and tranquility. Would you like to learn how to create your own jewelry? There is always something new when walking through this World Heritage City.
