Early in the morning we tried the spectacular guajolotas at Tortas Dolly. With a full stomach and a happy heart, we then walked to the Mercado Sano. There we visited Gaby Moreno to talk about her Mexika project. This is a jewelry workshop concept where you can create your own jewelry in three hours. Within the world of jewelry, we also visited the Kopal store, where we were impressed by its incredible jade pieces. Continuing with the jewelry theme, we took a trip to the Barbosa workshop, owned by the great San Miguel creator Felipe Barbosa. His pieces are sold all over the world and are often worn by superstars like David Beckham, Britney Spears, and Carlos Santana.
Then we moved on to Pris Nava at Bodega Orgánica. She told us about all the benefits of her fruits and vegetables free of harmful fertilizers.
When it was time to eat, Toño Aranda looked after us at Tostévere, a favorite restaurant in San Miguel de Allende. His eclectic tostadas took us on a delicious journey across planet Earth. To add more Mexican flavor, we met with our friend Laura Ramírez from Moles Galdi. We tried her mole with nuts, an innovation that will soon be on sale at Garibaldi.
After savoring this delicacy, we went downtown to enjoy the aromas of Mother Earth, a charming shop that produces soaps so delicious that you want to grab them for dessert. My favorites are vanilla, almond, and chocolate.
Further on we found the Artes de México workshop, where they make beautiful lanterns. Finally, we talked with the artisan Eduardo Domínguez, who’s an expert in working tin sheet. Together with his brother Filiberto, he created the emblem of San Miguel de Allende in metalwork.
And art cannot be missed on a visit to San Miguel de Allende, which is why we went to the AFALGAR Gallery, owned by Adolfo Falcón Garza. We talked with him about his participation with the past with David Alfaro Siquerios, Rufino Tamayo, and Vicente Rojo.
To close the day, we went to karaoke at La Chope, a restaurant with a great atmosphere and incredible burgers. Together with our host Andrés Aranda, we were encouraged to play a few songs. This has been the first Bazar MX tour, with the support of Asistencia San Miguel, to promote small businesses.
