The artist Emily Grieves presents a series of 44 pieces, made over three years, all inspired by the festivity of Day of the Dead. They are colorful works, with Mexican symbols and related to the altars and their mysteries; her painting is an offering that the artist makes to life and death.
She has lived in a town near Teotihuacan for 18 years, where she’s witnessed the ritual of death, and not only in November. Living the local traditions has had a great impact on her artistic work. “This tradition has given me a lot of healing, it has made me see life in a very different way; it has made me aware of the blessing of life. Originally, this serie is composed by oracle game illustrations that will soon be available. It is my offering to duality, to the divine energy,» says Emily.
Grieves is a healer and certified teacher of Intentional Creativity. She explores symbolism, dreams, and devotion in her artwork and teaches how to incorporate healing intention into her visionary and creative practices. The exhibition is at Buena Vida Gallery, located at 42 Aldama Street, almost across the street from the Matilda Hotel, with hours Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 11am to 5pm.
