This year marks the 104th anniversary of the end of hostilities on the western front of the first world war at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
It was to have been «the war to end all wars.”
The war lasted four years. The tragic history of this war involved 20 countries, 55,000,000 soldiers, approximately 9,000,000 killed, and millions more wounded. Statistics will never record the true and tragic impact of the suffering and loss of life of civilians.
For the ninth consecutive year, a memorial liturgy will be held in memory of ALL those who have served and continue to serve, those who have paid the ultimate price, and also those families and friends who suffered and continue to suffer as a consequence of these losses.
Service members will participate, and readings will be offered by ex-service members throughout the service.
The service will be held Friday, November 11, commencing at 10:30am, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Calzada del Cardo 6.
