International World Heritage Day

November 16 is International World Heritage Day, an emblematic date established by UNESCO to create an agreement for the protection, care, and preservation of all natural and cultural sites that exist on the planet and that are part of the wealth and heritage of all humanity; hence, the importance of their care, protection and preservation. Mexico and 50 other countries joined to be part of a worldwide campaign for the conservation of these priceless assets. In San Miguel, we have historical and natural heritage to protect!

International Balloon Festival

The festival is ranked as one of the three largest in the world! From November 18 to 21, 2022, in Leon, Guanajuato, enjoy the rise of 200 balloons that create a colorful and extraordinary spectacle that’s ideal for the whole family. The event includes performances by world-renowned artists such as Martin Garrix and Tiësto who will perform on November 19, and Farruko on November 20. 

The history: On December 1, 2002, the International Balloon Festival of Leon was born, gathering 25 hot air balloons; thus began the magic 20 years ago and the dream of painting the sky of the city of Leon with colors was fulfilled. 

International Jazz and Blues Festival 2022

This festival is considered one of the most outstanding and longest running of its kind in Mexico, and one of the most important in Latin America. This year’s edition will feature guests from the United States, Europe, Cuba, and Mexico. The Festival will begin on Wednesday, November 16, at the Centro Cultural el Nigromante, “Bellas Artes,” with Romania’s “JazzyBIT” trio. Also a tribute concert to Stevie Wonder is scheduled for Sunday, November 20. The rest of the concerts will be held at the Angela Peralta Theater. World Congress of Vine and Wine

As part of the 43rd World Congress of Vine and Wine, Ricardo Vega of Cuna de Tierra received recognition for his great winemaking career and his promotion of the State of Guanajuato. After two years of cancellation of this congress, the 43rd edition was very relevant. This congress had only been cancelled once before due to World War II and this time it was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The State of Guanajuato ranks fourth in wine production, eighth in industrial grape production at the national level, and currently has 135 labels that have won more than 150 awards in recognized world competitions. 

“Vive Grandes Historias” Collection

The Ministry of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato launched the Vive Grandes Historias book collection, which includes the history of the Camino Real Tierra Adentro, the history of the Vine, the history of the Secret Route of Mezcal, as well as the beauty of San Miguel de Allende in photographs, now available at the Guanajuato State Tourism Library! First STEAM Festival

The municipal authorities led the inauguration of the “First STEAM Festival” by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and giving way to the entire educational program. Also participating were the director of Cecyte, Ana Leticia Vera Vázquez; the founder of the new robotics school in San Miguel de Allende, Marci Elisa Marrero; the representative of the board of directors, Luis Felipe Rivera, and more than 100 students and other members of the educational community. Lectures, exhibition, acroyoga, macramé, lego, individual cube, and tournament were the activities that the students of the high school participated in throughout this interactive day. “STEAM” for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
