The public is invited to meet author and publisher Jamal Al Shehhi at a lavish luncheon at the beautiful Villas XichĂș estate in San Miguel on November 30 from 1:00 to 4:00pm. The cost is 550 pesos.
This event will build a literary bridge between the UAE and Mexico. The love for poetry and prose in the UAE is legendary. Dubaiâs prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, is himself a poet.
We are fortunate to have the chance to meet Al Shehhi, an important literary figure in UAE. He is in Mexico to represent the United Arab Emirates at the Guadalajara Book Fair, the second largest in the world. He is a charismatic figure who will reveal surprising facts about the literary life of the UAE. The program promises to be a lively and informative discussion.
Al Shehhi was educated in the United States, and his contributions to the literary life of the UAE are impressive. He opened the Kuttab Cultural Book Salon and Bookshop in 2013. He served as executive director of the Dubai Children’s Literature Exhibition, and he is a columnist for the Emirates newspaper and Al-Gulf News. Al Shehhi is a member of the board of directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library and contributed to the establishment of the House of Philosophy in the city of Fujairah. He is the founder and general manager of Dar Kuttab Publishing and Distribution.
