We are Local Again!

Despite the outcomes of the first few games played by the Mexican National Soccer Team at Qatar’s World Cup, Mexican fans proved to be the best, with approximately 80,000 fans in attendance. The famous «Cielito Lindo» was heard throughout the Arab territory, and the stadiums were filled with green «Tricolor» shirts cheering for Mexico. The shirts were even seen at matches not played by the Mexico team, for example, the match between Spain against Costa Rica, where the “somos locales otra vez” (we are local again) and the traditional «viva Mexico» were heard throughout the stadium. There is no doubt that Mexican fans are the best in the world. Whether the national team wins or loses, there will always be Mexicans filling stadiums and cheering for their beloved team. Long live Mexico!

Mexico is World Champion in Taekwondo

Mexico made history by proclaiming itself champion of the World Taekwondo Championship Guadalajara 2022. With six medals—three of which were gold, one silver, and two bronze—Mexico closed at the top of the medal table. It is the first time in the world championships that a nation has broken South Korea’s streak. The gold medals went to Leslie Soltero, Daniela Souza, and Carlos Sansores, while the silver was won by Cesar Rodriguez, and the bronze medals went to Brayan Salazar and Brandon Plaza. Mexico’s performance was historic and shows that we are a power in this discipline.

Two Years Since Diego Maradona’s Death

It was the second anniversary of the death of Argentina’s most important player, «El Diez» Diego Armando Maradona, which caused a great commotion all over the world on November 25, 2020. The Argentine fans who attended the Qatar 2022 World Cup paid tribute and even prayed to Diego in the Arab lands.

Diego Armando, who would win the World Cup in Mexico 1986 with the Argentine National Team and who is one of the top three best players in history, was remembered by all soccer lovers on the second anniversary of his death with walks through the streets of Qatar and T-shirts with the number 10. We miss you, Diego!

Qatar, a Small Country Hosting the World Cup

This is the first time that the most important soccer tournament will be held in Arabian territory, and the country chosen was none other than Qatar. Qatar is a small country, with an area barely the size of Jamaica and a population similar to that of the state of Querétaro, but it has enough resources to host an event of such magnitude as the World Cup.

Qatar is a country of millionaires. It is the country with the highest per capita income in the world—its economy is «high income,» according to the World Bank. Due to its climatic conditions, Qatar 2022 is the first World Cup to be held in November. Temperatures in Qatar hover around 36° C and can reach up to 50° C.

The sale of alcohol was not allowed in the stadiums. Although it is not forbidden, it was restricted for all the fans who gathered in the country. Unlike other World Cups, the distances between stadiums are very short. The longest distance is about an hour and a half by car, and the shortest is 15 minutes, so it is possible to watch all the matches without any problem. This and many other things make Qatar 2022 a historic World Cup.
