David Mendoza was born to make music. When he picks up the violin and begins to play for you, a great yearning rises within you, suspending time and expanding space around you. David’s music opens a portal to other worlds where passion, empowerment, communion, freedom, and, ultimately, peace converge.
While he was growing up in a family of musicians in Mexico City, they recognized and nurtured David’s extraordinary musical gifts. By the age of five, he was playing piano by ear and composing original music. At 7, he began playing violin, and by age thirteen, drums. Now, he moves comfortably between several instruments and genres that include Rock, Jazz, Flamenco, Tango, Classical, New Age, Minimal, and more.
David’s dream for his future cannot be separated from the cosmic images his compositions continually reveal to him. Earth, air, fire, and water are part of an infinite universe that finds its way into his music.
Michael Hoppe, a prominent Grammy nominee musician, praised David, saying, “Wonderfully expressive violin playing is quite simply one of the most beautiful sounds one can hear.» Hoppe has been David’s violinist since 2017 in albums as well as performing in his local concerts.
Distinct and varied moods, strong rhythms, and combinations of instrumentation predominate throughout David’s music—dark, driving, playful, troubling, fearful, delivering, uplifting, radiant, and serene—powerfully influence the audience’s experience. His live performances especially elicit and illuminate the artistic creations of those who perform with him. There is a profound connection felt and a desire to respond.
There are gifts of transcendent beauty in everyday life, but there are also uncommon, life-changing moments offered by prophetic artists speaking powerfully to this day and in these times.
All this magic created by the Mexican composer and multi-instrumentalist David Mendoza can make you cry tears of hope and joy.
Mendoza will share a very special Christmas Concert, playing Christmas Carols and classical music by wonderful composers like J. Sebastian Bach, Jules Massenet, Gustav Mahler, and others. Mendoza will perform this marvelous music beside the talented pianist Sharon Itoi from Japan, David’s father, Ignacio Arturo Mendoza Islas, a baritone, and Patricia Diaz Becerra, a soprano from Mexico City.
This will take place in the garden of Tres Fuentes Hotel Boutique on Baeza #7, in an intimate and high-level concert in San Miguel de Allende, the heart of Mexico.
Along with this successful annual Christmas concert, there will be an optional special dinner from Tres Fuentes Restaurant.
Tickets are available at the Biblioteca Publica, Insurgentes #25, Centro, as well as in Tres Fuentes Hotel Lobby.
