To celebrate International Volunteer Day on December 5, Midday Rotary members teamed up with Rotaract (young Rotarians) to clean Las Cachinches stream, a waterway that runs through San Miguel de Allende, from Guadalupe to El ParIan Plaza. The volunteers had the opportunity to speak with locals, the police, and the media about the importance of protecting rivers and natural spaces.
It was hard work: a lot of garbage had accumulated during the rainy season, and the team ended up with an entire truckload of garbage—mostly plastic objects. The cleanup reduces contamination of the waterway when the next rainy season arrives.
For Midday Rotary, the spirit of volunteering and the dissemination of Rotary awareness is essential. Working as a team and being able to help the community for the common good motivates its volunteers.
Thank you very much for your hard work!
