Love is in the air and also on stage on Valentine’s Day!
If you want to start a romantic night, join us to celebrate together this Saturday, February 11, at 5pm at Casa Europa, San Francisco 23, Centro.
An extraordinary concert of the XXIX International Jazz & Blues Festival will be held to celebrate love and friendship on Valentine’s Day.
You will enjoy classic songs like «My Funny Valentine,» «I´ll Be Seeing You,» «As Long As I Live,» «You Do Something to Me,» «I’m Beginning to See The Light,» and «Come Rain or Shine,» among others.
This afternoon’s repertoire contains songs by great jazz composers such as Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Duke Ellington, and Jerome Kerns, among others, and will be performed by singer Louise Phelan.
Phelan, born in Limerick, Ireland, is a professional jazz vocalist. She began her career as a professional singer almost 20 years ago in Ireland, where she began her studies, as well as continuing them in London, New York, and Stockholm to name a few. She has traveled around the world with various musical projects. She has participated in concerts as a soloist with symphony orchestras, philharmonics, and orchestral bands. Likewise, she has performed successfully in musical, theatrical, television, and radio shows throughout North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Additionally, she has worked for Sony Music & Universal BMG Scandinavia.
Music has the power to transport us, evoke feelings on the deepest level, to say what words can’t express. Love is undoubtedly a feeling that has inspired many composers.
Next concerts for the winter season are: Raphaëlle Brochet & Karina Colis, «World Music & Jazz» on February 18th at 5pm; and Tenoch Niño de Rivera, «An Evening with Music of Frank Sinatra & Tony Bennett» on February 25th at 7:30pm. Both concerts at El Sindicato, Centro Cultural Comunitario, Recreo 4, Centro.
