As have many companies, we have experienced tremendous inflation over the past two years and in fact have not raised our prices in 5 years. Mexico–Querétaro Train

Mayor of Mexico City Claudia Sheinbaum has spoken in favor of the construction of the Mexico-Querétaro Train, a project canceled by the Government of Enrique Peña Nieto. Interviewed at the Queretaro Government Palace, where the National Conference of Governors (Conago) met, Ms. Sheinbaum noted that the train would reduce the number of cargo vehicles that use the highway. On January 23, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that his government is analyzing the possibility of resuming the Mexico-Querétaro Train project, given the number of accidents that occur on the highway.

Rally Guanajuato 2023 moves towards electrification: drivers will use hybrid cars

The FIA World Rally Championship will take place from March 16-19 in Guanajuato State. One of the main innovations this year is that the drivers will use hybrid cars on the 316-kilometer race. This event should attract around 577,000 spectators, and bring in an economic benefit of P573 million and 68% hotel occupancy, i.e., 25,508 rooms. The Rally route covers the municipalities of Guanajuato, Silao, and León. The service area will be at installations in León, where more than 12,000 spectators are expected.

National Tourism Competition

The Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato has invited Guanajuatenses to participate in the National Contest of Tourist Culture 2022-2023. The motto is Inclusion Tourism, an Alternative for Social Integration: No One Left Behind, No One Left Out. In this 19th National Tourist Culture Contest, the aim is to listen to the perspective and experience of each citizen. Their proposals will improve the tourist experience in terms of inclusion. Citizen of the Year

Each year, the Rotary Club elects a Citizen of the Year. With 90% of the members voting, the 2022-2023 winner is Leticia Fernández de Noyola, president of the Red Cross of San Miguel de Allende. Leticia will be honored by the Rotary Club on Tuesday morning, March 7, at the Santa Ana Theater in the Biblioteca. Congratulations, Lety Fernández—well done!

Sister Cities: Palm Springs and San Miguel de Allende

On February 6, Mayor Mauricio Trejo met with a delegation of San Miguel businessmen to formalize a sister city relationship between San Miguel de Allende and Palm Springs, California. As part of the formalities, Trejo met in Palm Springs with the Sister Cities Committee, headed by Al Jones, its president. They discussed the good practices of both cities and how to consolidate international tourism.
