International Mother Earth Day

International Mother Earth Day is celebrated on April 22. The United Nations proclaimed the official holiday in 2009, but since 1970 we have observed it to raise awareness of the problems caused by overpopulation, pollution, biodiversity conservation, and other environmental concerns. Actually, the first antecedent of Earth Day dates back to 1968, when the U.S. Public Health Service organized the Human Ecology Symposium for students from various locations to hear scientists speak about the effects of environmental deterioration on human health.
