Rodrigo Reynoso: “Walk the Shape”

By Margaret Failoni

Based in Mexico City where he lives and works, Rodrigo Reynoso epitomizes the young, savvy, and sophisticated Chilango generation creating art today. His canvases depict static crossroads in urban intersections, teeming with ever-moving pedestrians, spilling over with energetic bravura, overflowing with color and movement. These urban landscapes are juxtaposed with the very still crossroads while teeming with movement. There is a pop art vitality updated with the use of constantly innovated materials. People move about the city accompanied by their shadows, coming and going, always in movement, to the beat of the city.

Reynoso has an uncanny way with color. Never sparingly, the bright, almost neon renditions are somehow harmonious, never jarring. Magic in his renditions is the uncanny ability to create excitement when viewing these works. There can be no such thing as indifference. The heady, pulsing, vitality of a world-class metropolis is beautifully conveyed in each canvas. The sculptures become mascots and incredibly happy mascots at that.

Thanks to successful exhibitions of the last few years, Reynoso’s art has found its way into many collections of young up-and-coming entrepreneurs and interior designers. The Intersección Gallery is delighted to exhibit his work once again and offer it to its very discerning clients.
