Whirlpool Corporation, with a presence in Mexico, managed to position itself within the first 10 places in the ranking of «Super Companies 2023» within «the places where everyone wants to work»—a distinction that is delivered annually through TOP Companies, a consultant specializing in diagnosis and strengthening of organizations. The recognition arose from having innovative practices that promote a positive and collaborative work environment where human capital training is constantly being worked on. Selection criteria include company dedication, leadership, and commitment.
«The participation process to achieve recognition consisted of the application of a survey of collaborators, as well as an analysis of their practices and policies related to the administration of human capital in order to measure the job satisfaction of professionals,» referred to the company which added that the results obtained were classified into six reports.
The brand, which carries out some manufacturing processes in Mexico, and which is recognized for its production of household appliances, kitchen, and laundry items achieved positioning in 2023 after the selection by TOP Companies in conjunction with a renowned business magazine. «Whirlpool has also stimulated, channeled, and enhanced the positive impact of its professionals, and encourages the active participation of its employees in social initiatives and volunteer actions,» the company concluded.
The best and worst cities in the United States to work remotely
By Bloomberg online
Results of an analysis by researchers show that the percentage of job postings offering at least some type of remote work fell in many U.S. cities in March. The city most prone to remote work is not San Francisco or San Jose, California—but Bloomfield, Connecticut, home of insurance company Cigna Group where almost half of job offers offer some freedom to work from home. It is followed by Augusta, the capital of Maine, and Dover, Delaware, according to a team of researchers who analyzed the percentage of job postings that specifically allow working from home at least one day a week. The top 10 is not limited to cities in the Northeast, they also include Lansing, Michigan, and Helena, Montana.
Those seeking telecommuting should avoid Burleson, Texas, Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
At a time when many companies are slowing down hiring, increasing layoffs, and tightening back-to-office policies there are concerns that remote jobs are becoming increasingly scarce. The data, compiled by academics including Nicholas Bloom, an economist at Stanford University, shows that the percentage of job postings offering at least some form of remote work fell in many U.S. cities in March—the last month analyzed. In Phoenix, for example, remote jobs accounted for 15% of all job openings in March, down from 18% in the past four months; while in San Diego, the percentage dropped from 15.4% to 13.5%.
Telecommuting could also lose popularity in Bloomfield. Cigna CEO David Cordani said the company will move, starting in September, to having “more colleagues who work most of the time at one of our locations” according to a March employee memo in which it was claimed that 90% of Cigna’s 70,000-strong workforce has been working remotely all or most of the time. Cigna has several thousand employees in Connecticut according to a spokeswoman.
“Ultimately, our goal is a workforce model where those who work in a center are generally more in line with pre-pandemic levels,” Cordani shares in the note. «Innovation and brainstorming are more effective in person.»
