The Biblioteca Publica is putting together a silent art auction featuring Chuck Rigg’s beautiful paintings. The show will be on display in the Patio of the Biblioteca from Thursday, November 11, at 2pm, through Saturday, November 13. Bids can be placed during those days. Come and join us on Saturday, November 13, from 4pm to 6:30pm to close the auction and celebrate Chuck Rigg’s talent and generosity.
Rigg will give 100 percent of the benefits of the auction to the Biblioteca. Each dollar raised will be invested in operating our different cultural and educational programs.
What are the programs of the Biblioteca?
The scholarship program, which gives 100 grants each year to low-income talented students of San Miguel de Allende; the literacy program, which gives free access to our bilingual book collection; and the free classes, offered to anyone who wants to access artistic and educational training (guitar, children’s chorus, computer science, English as a foreign language, and art).
In Rigg’s words, “The Biblioteca is such a great resource for our community. It has been part of the cultural life of San Miguel for so many years and has impacted in a positive way so many lives!” For this San Miguel based artist, originally from Ohio who taught at the Corcoran School of Arts, the practice of art is a shelter to the tumult of the world. His oil painting technique is precise and thoughtful; the artist carefully delves into the inherent vigor of his models, whether human or animal, and traces it onto the canvas in audacious, yet elegant lines. Fifteen oils on canvas of medium size, representative of his different series (male nudes, landscapes, and animal imagery), will be displayed and auctioned.
The public is invited to stop by the Biblioteca to see the art, make a donation to the library, or place a bid. The show and the auction instructions can be seen online (labibliotecapublica.org/subasta/)
The auction will close on Saturday November 13 at 6pm.
