The decoration, the aromas and the colors of the walls transport you in a second. With the hues and clothes lines like on the streets of Cuba and Colombia, and the unique smell of plantain, the restaurant is a tribute to this mixture of cultures.
Patricia Belatti and María Eugenia Isaza opened the restaurant in July of this year. Their concept was to create not just a food establishment, but also a cultural space in which the folklore of Colombia and Cuba cohabit. These are the countries of which Patricia and María are native respectively.
On the menu you can find a tapas bar of Creole cuisine, where your palate can enjoy a mixture of flavors and textures out of the ordinary. Patricia comments that «here are the best mojitos in San Miguel. We are a Cuban place, it is mandatory fun.” Here, in addition to eating, you will find a set of plastic works such as paintings and figures of local artists. One one of the walls is a collection of photographs including film actors, singers, dancers and artists, most of them Cubans, and some from Mexico.
“We offer home cooking, art and culture, mainly from Cuba and Colombia, with delicious tapas that will always be accompanied by brief educational and cultural participation on the origin of the dishes. We invite chefs and cooks who represent each Latin American country, where sensitivity, complicity, pride, joy and creativity prevail within this gastronomic and cultural space,” states Patricia, excited.
Located on Mesones 56, the restaurant and cultural space offers its dishes and drinks from Wednesday to Saturday from 12-7pm; and Sundays from 12-4pm. If your thing is to try seasonings and get to know different places in San Miguel, Luz Ávalos, who is the cook at Puerta Latina, will offer you a special afternoon in the center of the city.
