By Alberto Robledo
Without a doubt David Mendoza is a great promise of music in Mexico. He is a multi-instrumentalist and better known as an incredible violinist who lives in San Miguel de Allende.
Beyond his understanding of music, David Mendoza understands feelings. He knows how to reach them with a violin lunge, with notes placed in the places his heart asks. Listening to his music is healing. Every note he plays tells you a story, and they reveal a truth that is hidden from many, denied by others: that the beauty of the simple is what we need to heal this wounded world, eager for music and color.
David is a musician with all his lyrics, thirsty to discover the secrets of music that makes him vibrate to transmit it to people—a musician who seeks to grow and touch the sky with the people he plays for, with his friends. David knows that music is a shared path.
His self-confidence on stage is something to see. Being a multi-instrumentalist and composer, he has great knowledge about what happens on stage and an attentive ear that helps him get to what he is imagining. He is a guide who takes both his musicians and the public to new and bright places, in colors that can be seen and felt, or as Grammy nominee Michael Hoppe describes him, “Incredible expressive violinist; it’s quite simply one of the most beautiful sounds you can hear.”
For this concert he will share an ambitious rock project, his JJJ Tribute (Jeff Beck, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix), bringing to the San Miguel scene a fabulous rock and roll concert with three of the most important artists of the 70s. He will be joined by some of the most talented young performers living now in San Miguel, with Sharon Itoi from Japan on keyboards, Archi Gallardo from Leon on drums, José Galván from Tamaulipas on electric bass, Mairead O’Grady from San Diego, California, on drums, Andrea Aristizabal from Colombia on vocals, and very special guests Gaby Espinosa, originally from San Miguel, on vocals and Mike Duncan from Tennessee on electric guitar.
This will take place in the beautiful big garden of Tres Fuentes Hotel Boutique at Baeza 7 in Centro, beside the gorgeous Parque Benito Juárez. This is an intimate outdoor venue with comfortable seating for no more than 100 people.
The Concert starts at 6pm accompanied by an optional delicious dinner by Tres Fuentes Restaurant during the concert.
Tickets are available at Biblioteca Pública Insurgentes 25 as well as in the lobby of Tres Fuentes Hotel.
Alberto Robledo is a saxophone performer, one of the young and big talents living in San Miguel.
