David Mendoza Plays The Beatles Concert

By Fil Formicola

Many people have been fortunate enough to see this incredibly talented young man playing the violin in one or two of his many on-stage performances. His violin playing touches the heart of his followers, stirring the soul of every listener. Is not surprising to find yourself crying because of his deeply touching playing, and the synchronicity between David Mendoza and his violin is staggering. He is perhaps the only player in town that can play almost every genre, from classic to jazz, rock, pop, folk, and contemporary music.

Many people around over the world come just to see Mendoza perform on his amazing violin.

He also is a composer and the music director of every project in which he is involved.

Many people are fascinated about his growing career through the years in San Miguel—always setting challenges and overcoming obstacles. Having him in San Miguel as his main location is a gift to the San Miguel community, as he progresses to the far edges of the musical universe, along with his disciplined confidence and creative freedom, touching people even more deeply.

Praised by the excellent English composer and Grammy nominee Michael Hoppé as, “Wonderfully expressive violin playing … it’s quite simply … one of the most beautiful sounds you can hear.” Mendoza has been Hoppé’s violinist for the last five years on album recordings as well as his local concerts, including Hoppé’s last two albums, “Amistad” and “Beneath Mexican Stars.” Without any doubt, Mendoza is one of the big promises of Mexican artists.

This time he will play The Beatles concert with his rock sextet, performing with the talented Japanese/Mexican Sharon Itoi on the piano, her husband Archivaldo Gallardo on drums, the terrific bass player José Galván, the incredible American guitarist Anthony Duncan, and Patricia Diaz, Mendoza’s mother, on vocals. They will share the stage with special guests, like the very well-loved Jay Cabrera from Media Luna on the electric guitar, as well as with the gorgeous and talented singer Andrea Aristizabal from Colombia.

The concert will take place in the new gorgeous outdoor venue Mendoza has for his performances, the Tres Fuentes boutique hotel boutique at Baeza 7, located just beside the big, beautiful Parque Benito Juárez in downtown San Miguel.

You can also enjoy an optional delicious four-course dinner by Rubén Russell, master chef.

Tickets are available at the Biblioteca Pública ticket office, Insurgentes 25, as well as the lobby of the Tres Fuentes Hotel.

If you are lucky enough to witness a Mendoza performance, “With David at the helm of his inner and outer instrument, the strings of his violin will most certainly touch the strings of your heart.”
