La Bohème

By Casa Europa

Operísima Mexico based in San Miguel de Allende was founded by Mtro. Rogelio Riojas Nolasco, pianist and vocal coach, with more than 30 years of national and international experience in the preparation and perfection of artists in the field of opera. The objective of Operisima Mexico is to develop the talents of classical singers, to give them the tools, the knowledge, and the skills that take them to a competitive level in the world of opera. Among the activities that are developed are the workshops of study and perfection of roles of complete operas; the improvement of scenic and corporal movement; and the correct management of language (diction and phrasing); all with the purpose of promoting the dissemination of opera and lyrical art in general in Mexico and at the same time helping singers with their professional and personal development.

Rogelio, by the hand of the great director of performing arts Irena Silya, and his spectacular group of young people present this month at Casa Europa Mexico «La Bohème» one of the most outstanding operas of the standard operatic repertoire—the fourth most presented worldwide. It is an opera in four acts with music by Giacomo Puccini and Italian libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica. The story is set in Paris in the period around the year 1830 in which a group of young artists share a house in the Latin Quarter and with it their friendship, illusions, and loves. It focuses essentially on the love between the dressmaker named Mimí and the poet Rodolfo. They fall in love when they meet, but Rodolfo later wants to leave Mimí because of her flirtatious behavior. However, Mimí is mortally ill and Rodolfo feels guilty as their life together has worsened his health even more.
