Xavier and Liliana are well known to the musical community of San Miguel. Since 2000, the year they decided to live here, after studying music at UNAM and working in Mexico City for seven years, they formed the Ensemble San Miguel, a musical group which has performed in many concerts and presentations with musicians from our city, Queretaro and Celaya.
Xavier is an excellent singer as well as a flutist who is currently the director of music at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Cardo. Liliana is an equally talented pianist who also sings on occasion. In 2011 they won a grant titled “Stimuli for Arts Creation and Development” with a concert named “In Mexico” from the then-called National Council for Culture and the Arts, in Guanajuato. They performed in several municipalities within the state under a special program designed to support the diffusion of music. The last tour finished in 2017.
For this event they resume their exploration of beautiful Latin American music, performing tango, sones, Brazilian, as well as Mexican songs, with the following talented musicians: Israel Chavez on violin and percussions, Angie Gutierrez on vocals, and Ramiro Granados on electric bass.
Please come and enjoy their beautiful eclectic program at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Thursday, July 21, at 5pm. Tickets are available at the Biblioteca and at the entrance of the church on the day of the concert.
