Event in Spanish with English Translation
By Marie Moébius
Mostapha Romli, Moroccan artist and founding president of the Casablanca International Contemporary Art Biennale, will dialogue with Marisa Caichiolo, director of Building Bridges Foundation (Los Angeles), about artistic creation and international cultural exchange. Mostapha will share with the audience about his creative process and his work as a video artist. He will discuss with Marisa the power of international collaborative projects to enrich artistic creation and professionalize the artistic sector.
Mostapha Romli’s creative work began with photography and led him to printmaking, painting, and video. A versatile visual artist, Romli is developing an increasingly committed body of work that confronts the viewer with violence, particularly that which is done to women’s bodies. Titled “Words Build Images,” the fifth edition of the Casablanca Biennale will commence in summer 2023. It is inspired by the work of South African photographer George Hallet and by the role of African literature in the creation of images.
Marisa Caichiolo is an Argentinian artist and curator. Her investigations focus on the impact of social and political changes on society. Her work as a promoter of cultural international exchanges led her to initiate Building Bridges Foundation, an international NGO based in Santa Monica, California. The foundation was conceived to be a platform for critical thinking and researching local and international programs in Los Angeles, art residencies, and education programs, among others.
With this event, the Biblioteca wants to invite the audience to a series of events dedicated to visual art in general and to video art in particular.
