Complementary and Alternative Medicine

By Marie Oliveiras

Many men and women today are seeking alternative medical treatments for an array of health issues. One area of complementary health that is highly sought is nutrition and regenerative cell therapies. Herbal compounds structured for therapeutic uses are often confused with supplement dosages. Over-the-counter herbal supplements are not therapeutic dosages; more times than not, this is very confusing for the average consumer in the realm of natural medicine.

In the complementary health field and nutritional therapy specifically, I always incorporate blood work for a baseline when using herbal therapeutics for hormone balancing, anti-aging, and regenerative cell properties. It’s important to have a healthcare practitioner with an educational background to support the process the patient is committing to. A simple certificate won’t be sufficient. The minimum of a year degree for an alternative healthcare provider is appropriate when investing in your health. I’ve had a great response with men and women who suffer from osteopenia, osteoporosis, various heart issues, and other age-related risks; these are the kind of issues that are covered in an extensive educational program. I work in conjunction with other doctors according to my patient’s needs to have the very best care possible for my patients here is San Miguel.

Protein is an essential factor when rehabilitating the body from any illness. It’s absolutely essential for tissue repair and firm tones, allowing tissues to function properly in the body. Eighty five percent of health rehabilitation is in the diet. How, what, and when you consume food, supplements, and traditional medications factor in a person’s health regeneration. I have personal experience with this area of nutrition and recovered from a Type-II dens fracture at the brain stem with no surgical intervention and minimal neurological deficits. However, my case is not an average case. I was extremely fortunate to recover the way I did, but I owe it to my education and knowledge of the therapies I learned throughout my medical career.

In short, I would like to offer any information of interest about this topic and any concerns about therapies San Miguel residents are seeking. I have an excellent collection of doctors I work with who have many specialties. I invite inquiries for referral. Also, I’m looking forward to meeting more of our community members! My office is located in La Joya Hospital, Torre Medica, Office 18. San Miguel Allende
