Staring into the Big Top overhead, circus audiences often witness a lesson for living. “To grab the trapeze swinging toward you, let go of the bar you are holding onto,” Minister Tom Rosiello says from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Miguel de Allende known as UUFSMA.
In this weekend’s Sunday Service, Reverend Rosiello will explore “leaps of faith” and the high-flying art of letting go of old ways to grab new opportunities. Skillful flips of the grip can play a major part in individual lives. Likewise, he says, they become part of the handiwork when reaching into the future of a dynamic spiritual congregation like the UU Fellowship of San Miguel.
Exploring new ways to provide ministry and programs, the Fellowship is reaching for better service of its members and community while also extending its reach to meet the needs of new constituencies. “We are in a transition that requires letting go of the comfortable and familiar as we grasp opportunities that are new and exciting,” Rev. Rosiello says.
Members of the UUFSMA Committee on Ministry will join him at the podium and invite others to “grab the bar» and forward momentum of the new Minister in Residence program. The new program seeks a part-time UU minister for a residence here of one to two years, to assist and complement the current minister with an expanding agenda of responsibilities and programs.

Unitarian Universalism is a liberal faith inviting its community to gather around a set of harmonizing values and principles for living. Our UU Fellowship welcomes people of all ages, races, religions, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Belief in a divinity is not the central issue around which we gather for worship and generous action. Rather, we come together with a belief in community, love, compassion, social justice, and reverence for nature, all within the interconnected web of existence.
