Los Locos—the Day of the Fools is approaching. Although almost everyone from San Miguel has danced to the rhythm of their music as they go by, few know how many there are in total.
For several decades now, the Locos have been made up of four cuadros or squads:
- Cuadro del Parque (the Park Squad)
- Cuadro Antiguo (the Ancient Squad)
- Cuadro Nuevo (the New Squad)
- Cuadro del Tecolote (the Tecolote Squad)
Each squad consists of 13 groups.
Each group has about 75-100 people.
This year, it’s estimated that a total of 5,000 Locos will parade through the streets of San Miguel.
