I am sure you have heard the crowds shout, “Viva Mexico!” and “Viva Independencia!” “El Grito de Dolores” (Cry of Dolores) became the battle cry of the large, popular, mob-like army amassed near Dolores Hidalgo to fight for Mexican Independence in 1810. Ending 300 years of Spanish rule, Mexico now celebrates its Independence Day on September 16. “El Grito” festivities abound, including parades, pyrotechnics, traditional dancing, rodeos, and Mexican flags flying everywhere. San Miguel de Allende played a prominent role in the path to Mexico’s independence.
Leonor is doing her part to celebrate “El Grito.” She is a happy girl, just wanting to spread her cheer to all those who can hear her. She has reason, other than Mexico’s Independence, to be cheerful. She became a mother of six when she herself was just ten months old. She and her brood found their way to the S.P.A. in the U.S. Independence Day in 2022 when her kids were just two weeks old. Leonor is a beautiful mostly white girl with chocolate powder dusting, a calico tail and blue eyes. She has a great, strong, loving personality and gets along well with other cats and with people. She has been a wonderful mother, caring for, feeding, and defending her wee ones.
The babies are now moving on to their own independence, freeing Leonor to explore the new life that awaits her. She and her babies are now available for adoption. Three of the kittens are Siamese-type with tan fur, dark chocolate ears, tails, muzzles, and legs. Twins, with mostly white fur and orange highlights on their ears and tails and that look like their mother, round out the family. All have mom’s blue eyes. They are all adorable and have a variety of wonderful personalities. Please check them out on our website at https://www.spasanmiguel.org/adopt-me-cats.
Meet this wonderful family at the S.P.A., Los Pinos 7, 415 152 6124. Adoption hours are Monday-Saturday, 11-2 (mask required). The S.P.A.’s adoption fee for cats and dogs is 600 pesos and includes all current vaccinations, deworming, and sterilization, and more. All the animals at the S.P.A. are well-cared-for, well-fed and loved; however, it is not the same as having their own loving, forever family. Please consider making one or more of them a part of your family.
