All funds received will be used for the care and support of our cats and dogs (about 100 in all) sheltered at the S.P.A., waiting to become a part of loving families. Let me tell you about two of our dogs who would be among those who would benefit from your donation to the S.P.A. Lolita and Butch have been neighbors at the S.P.A. for a couple of years, meaning their casitas are next to each other. Their backgrounds are quite different. Butch has been at the S.P.A. since he was a mere baby, only 2 weeks old. He is now 3 years old. Look at how he’s changed! The only life that Butch has known has been at the S.P.A. Lolita, on the other hand, spent the first year and a half of her life in a home. She came to the S.P.A. because her owners’ circumstances changed and they could no longer take care of her. Fortunately, we had space at the time. She is also now 3 years old.
A large boy, Butch is strong, active, and athletic. He has a very gentle mouth. Give him a treat and he practically gums it off your hand. He likes most other dogs and is happy, enthusiastic, and sweet. Sometimes he’s shy. It take a little while for him to get used to a new person when the object is to adopt him. However, a new volunteer can easily take him for a walk. Go figure.
Medium-sized, slender Lolita is a lovely, smart dog. She stares deeply into your eyes when you talk to her one-on-one, ready to give kisses. Sometimes she just stretches out and calmly and patiently listens to you talking to her. She is friendly with people but is selective about her dog friends. She is easy to walk on leash, especially if an unfamiliar dog does not cross her path. She’s easy to be with, soothing, not intrusive, undemanding, and sweet.
Meet Lolita and Butch at the S.P.A. any day, Monday through Saturday, 11-2, Los Pinos 7, 415 152 6124 (masks required). Either could be a wonderful addition to your family.
