In celebration of friendship, some of the best musicians living in San Miguel prepared a special concert filled with love songs to benefit the Biblioteca Pública de San Miguel de Allende.
John Jessup’s early years were in an adobe house on a farm in the high plains of the Nebraska Panhandle. Since visiting San Miguel de Allende in 2017, the focus has been on music, playing American folk and pop and writing a few songs here and there.
Serge Gamache is from Montreal Canada. He played with many ensembles of various styles, the last of which was Cavalia Odysseo, a Cirque du Soleil-style equestrian production. He was a guitarist with them for six years. He currently lives in San Miguel and also teaches guitar lessons online.
Stephen Russell is a singer-songwriter and guitarist originally from western Pennsylvania and western New York state. Influences range from Gilbert and Sullivan to traditional folk, classic rock and Katy Perry. He is also a librarian by training, a bibliophile by education, and a huge fan of The Library, where he sometimes volunteers.
Rob Ramsey is a native of Texas and now lives in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He is a previous grand prize winner of the American Song Festival Lyric Competition, a semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition, and a Billboard Top-100 Country Songwriter.
Roger Hill began playing music with his father’s band where he grew up in the Nebraska Panhandle. He started on bass, added acoustic guitar, Hawaiian steel guitar, and his current main instrument, the Dobro, and has played in numerous bands, including rock and roll, country, and bluegrass styles.
Marc and Catherine have a true romantic history of San Miguel. They met here a few years ago and discovered that their interest in making music together underpins their romance. Catherine Bryne sings and acts from a very young age. She thanks Marc Taylor for encouraging her to find her authentic voice. Marc says that he always longed for a musical partner that he was in love with.
Beautiful Luck (Sue Black, vocals and guitar, Carl Lefebvre, vocals and ukulele) have been performing in and around the Victoria area for the past 4 years at coffee shops, restaurants, farmers markets and house concerts. His repertoire is made up of roots, pop, country versions and some original compositions. Sometimes they perform with bass and drums, but they can perform alone as a duo. Beautiful Luck loves performing and sharing her energetic love of music.
They all are pleased to be part of this special evening “Too late for Valentine’s Day Love Songs Show”, a fundraising concert that will take place tomorrow, Friday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m. in the Patio of the Biblioteca Pública, a beautiful open space that you will love.
