On December 3, 4 and 5 Distrito SOMA presents The First Annual Design House SMA to benefit Centro Adolescentes De San Miguel, better known as CASA, a US registered 501C3. CASA has served San Miguel for over 40 years, tirelessly promoting family health and a better San Miguel through its major programs:
- Early Childhood development programs.
- Library and Computer Center.
- Sex education and family planning programs on the CASA Campus and throughout San Miguel and a Cooperating ‘Tiendita’.
- Colores; Addressing transgender and non binary rights.
- ELEGIR; Reducing violence against women by providing not only shelter but psychological support sessions, legal services, and a 24/7 hotline.
- Rancho Pandillero; Reducing gang violence.
- Maternity family health clinic, midwifery program and birthing center.
Event Chairpersons Kelley West and Amy Rothlin of Kelley West Beauty and Skincare INC. created this the event to promote CASA’s work preventing violence against women and children in Mexico.
DESIGN HOUSE SMA is presented by Distrito SOMA furniture showrooms located in Guajuyé, the old glass factory, behind the Migracion Offices.
The 1st Annual Design House Sma kicks off with a VIP party on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 6-11pm. Gourmet bites, cocktails, a live art auction and music performed by DJ Martha, Johnny Favorite, Lady Zen, Liah Alonso and Pamela and the Andersons ensures an exciting, fun night! Donations for the VIP party are 1200 pesos, with 100% of proceeds going to San Miguel CASA- Inc. Tickets are available at casa.org.mx/donaciones/. Due to health regulations there is limited availability for the Friday night VIP event so reserve soon!
Saturday and Sunday, Dec 4 and 5 will be open house tours from 11am-6pm. The general admission donations are 180 pesos each and include a tour of Design House SMA followed by a complimentary roundtrip shuttle to Distrito SOMA to experience their beautiful interior showrooms. Jesus Rubin, owner of Distrito SOMA is excited to introduce you to these great designers. Come meet those who have dedicated their time and talent creating great spaces: Front porch and exterior by Victor Hugo; Living and dining room by Alejandro Buendia Hegewisch, Industrial Designer; Master Suite and patio by Betty Goldberg and Paty Hamui, their new project ‘Alcoba Azul’ a global encounter with Mexican craft ; Guest Suite and patio by Sofia Karam, versatile and lively with work in Miami, Mexico City and San Miguel; and finally, the ‘Casita,’ An intervention”, bathroom and patio by Nicole F. Norris, an award-winning Designer in the US and Mexico.
