Guayaberas are a cool and comfortable Mexican garment. However, they are not exactly classified as casual, because in some areas of the country they are used as formal dress in traditional events. Guayaberas stand out mainly in the cultural life of the coastal city of Veracruz and in the Yucatan peninsula. These are the places where they originated and, it is worth mentioning, with a strong connection to the country of Cuba. A popular story tells that Yucatecan growers of henequen, first saw the shirt in Cuba in the late 19th or early 20th century, and it was from then that they made an adaptation of this beautiful garment.
