A Jazz Fashion Opera

By Fernanda Noriega

This Friday, November 19, Casa Europa in Mexico presents “A Jazz Fashion Opera,” an event featuring art, fashion and performance; as well as the opportunity to meet artists and spectators, who are likely to have interests similar to yours.

José Yañez, is a fashion designer living in San Miguel and he has his Buena Vida Gallery on Aldama Street in the center of the city. On Friday afternoon you will be able to learn more about his work watching a catwalk where he will present his new collections for this fall-winter season. There will also be designs by Billelee Mommer and Cock of the Walk Designs. While José was telling me a little about how the presentation will take place, he commented that “much of the collection is inspired by the Middle Ages,” it is exciting to appreciate the clothes and the designer’s style.

As part of the event, the artist Lady Zen, with a great career as a singer, will perform a musical presentation with a choreography by Jaime Coronado; there will also be an intervention by Artists Aquarius Funkk, performance and model.

Since Casa Europa reopened its doors to San Miguel residents under the pertinent sanitary measures, it has been the location of meetings like this one. It is a place where the fine arts congregate to enhance local and international artists, showing that despite the circumstances, art does not rest. Starting at 6:30pm in San Francisco 23 you can be part of the event and it is right there where you can buy your tickets so you don’t miss out on this special invitation.
