Fátima 7 Rooftop

By Rodrigo Díaz Guerrero

One of the things that is mentioned the most when talking about San Miguel de Allende, is its beautiful rooftop terraces. Without fear of contradiction, we can say that Fátima 7 Rooftop has one of the best, with a spectacular view of the domes and towers of the churches in the historic center, including the church of San Francisco in the front row. This restaurant-bar bears the name of the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, alluding to her majesty. This well-planned project is undoubtedly a must-see if you are looking for a good place to dine or have a drink.

From the beginning, the owners of the establishment decided to maintain the original style of the house (which was home to the family of the Guanajuato intellectual Leobino Zavala), and with its Moorish influence, the decision to bring the spirit of Morocco to our city was inevitable. Its designers, Jeffrey Weisman and Andrew Fisher, brought from the African country some of the shelves, tables, and accessories that the property boasts, such as the huge spherical lamp that is at the entrance of the Casa Blanca Hotel, of which the restaurant is a part.

Four years after opening its doors for the first time, Fátima 7 offers a menu where Mexican cuisine is impregnated with the flavors of the Maghreb, inspired by chef Mike García, who lived in Morocco before joining the project. He recommends the short rib (cooked for 10 hours at low temperature, glazed with chili cream, and accompanied by smoked carrot purée and sautéed vegetables with barbecue sauce) or tuna tartare (with green apple, poblano chile pesto, and grilled avocado), which has become one of the place’s classics, and to drink: the San Mike cocktail (mezcal, pineapple, and serrano chile), to mention just a few of the delicacies that the kitchen and bar of Fátima 7 have for its demanding diners.

We highly recommend arriving early and watching the sunset because, as we said, it boasts one of the best views in the entire town. At night, contemplating the historic center while enjoying the magic of its cuisine, it’s an enchantment that transports the happy diner to the Moroccan Mediterranean. It is not for nothing that the place has been chosen for photographic sessions of models and tourist postcards, so we can guarantee you a perfect evening that you will want to repeat at the first opportunity.

Leading the project are Claudia Andrew, Jesús Ric, and chef Mike García, who we applaud for developing the concept, the atmosphere, and, of course, the food. Fátima 7 is located at Calle Juárez 7, Centro, with hours from Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 10pm.
