Adrián Hernández Alejandri, mayor of Dolores Hidalgo, spoke to Atencion about his tourism project for his city, the Cradle of Independence.
The mayor highlighted vineyards. He emphasized that they are doing a great job with wine tourism, and that this has migrated toward San Miguel de Allende. He said that his administration will continue to strengthen this industry. Hernandez noted that Dolores Hidalgo has a great history, since it is the cradle of the Independence for Mexico. This fame presents a great potential that has not been developed. The administration also wants to focus on José Alfredo Jiménez, an icon of ranchera music, who is known worldwide.
Hernandez added that he will work and support local artisans, including ice cream producers, stressing that this sector has been one of the businesses maintaining the economy of the city. Another important area, he said, is agribusiness, which he also supports. The area is one of the main exporters of broccoli, carrots, and celery, supplying the product to almost the entire east coast and bringing in major business tourism for the area. The mayor commented that many businessmen from other cities have close business deals in Dolores.
Finally, he spoke about the boulevard that will connect Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel, with a state investment of two billion pesos. This eco-boulevard, he highlighted, will generate more business for Dolores Hidalgo.
