Hope in Motion International was founded with a vision to provide medical and general assistance to those in need, giving the most vulnerable the opportunity to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
We spoke with Mayara Kraemer Losano, local coordinator of this organization. She told us that the group began in San Miguel de Allende with a desire to change the world. It was founded by a group of North Americans who knew the Casa Hogar Mexiquito and they wanted to help the children and the nuns. They began their work in 2018.
At first they provided medical assistance, starting with dental programs to check the teeth of the little ones who live in the Casa Hogar Mexiquito. Later they brought in ophthalmologists, and also psychologists to help with mental health problems. Hope in Motion International works at the Casa Hogar Mexiquito, which shelters boys. They also work with the Casa Hogar Santa Julia Don Bosco, for girls. They have also expanded their services to Comitán de Domínguez, a small town in Chiapas. They are working with two orphanages in that state, and in the near future they will begin to support four homes in León, Guanajuato.
At Casa Hogar Mexiquito they care for 30 children from two to 18 years of age, while in the Casa Hogar Santa Julia they work with approximately 25 girls in the same age range.
Kraemer explained how difficult and delicate the situation of these little orphans is. Many of the children are abandoned by their parents, and others are simply removed from their homes by the government for not having a healthy family environment. However, work is always being done with the original families. The aim is to help these minors to return to their family, into a healthy condition for both the family and the children. It is also hoped that these children do not stay in the home forever in case they are unable to return to their families. The children are placed for adoption, although often this is a very long process because of the need to verify that the family that takes the child is responsible.
Kraemer said that many children are not from San Miguel. Some come from other parts of Mexico, and they come to this home in order to protect their integrity and sometimes their lives. She also stated that another reason for Hope in Motion is to see the children grow up healthy both physically and mentally, they hope to change the lives of these children.
The association also works in the area of education and training, so that the children are prepared to face life. They help older children to have a professional experience outside their home, and to have contact with the world. According to Kraemer, many doctors want to provide their services in the homes where Hope in Motion works.
The Hope in Motion (HIM) team has a simple philosophy: to serve young children by improving their circumstances, allowing them to learn and grow, and give them the potential to thrive and become promising young adults.
The directors of HIM deeply believe in leaving the world better than before you arrived. They also believe in a society where people uplift and enrich the lives of others, especially those whose paths run into difficulties. Any acts of kindness bestowed upon them may be exactly what is needed to renew their hope and spirit, thus helping to pave the way for a more auspicious and reassuring future ahead.
