On April 14, 2023, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) began operations, the first railway line that commercially links Mexico, the United States, and Canada. It is a route of more than 32,000 kilometers through the main cities and ports of the three nations. Among the cities, the line covers in Mexico are Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Mexico City, and Monterrey. It also has connections to multiple cities such as Guadalajara and Puebla, as well as the ports of Veracruz, Lázaro Cárdenas in Michoacán, and Altamira and Tampico in Tamaulipas.
In the United States, the route includes cities and ports such as Brownsville, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Houston, Dallas, Beaumont, Port Arthur, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. It also goes to Gulfport, Mobile, Meridian, Kansas City, St. Louis, Davenport, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Detroit, Buffalo, Albany, and New York. As far as Canada is concerned, the CPKC includes cities and ports such as Montreal, Toronto, Quebec, Saint John, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
Reduction of the Working Day in Mexico Could Be a Reality

The Labor Commission of the Senate of the Republic held a forum on April 20, 2023, to see the feasibility of reducing the working hours of workers in Mexico. It should be noted that some legislators propose that work be done from Monday to Thursday, while others propose that the period be six hours a day.
Currently, there are six initiatives in the Senate and in the Chamber of Deputies in which they propose the reduction of working hours. For more than 100 years, the working day in the country has been eight hours a day, so now there is a need to discuss the issue of a possible decrease in the period. According to information from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Mexico is the country where more hours are dedicated to work. Data from 2019 show that Mexican workers on average work 2,137 hours a year, while the average among the countries that make up this organization is 1,780 hours. Source: Mexico Industry
