Sanitary Jurisdiction II of the Guanajuato Health System reports that Operation Dengue 2023 will take place in the upcoming days to prevent and combat this mosquito-borne disease. The Dengue season begins when the rains come, especially in June.
The work teams of organized brigades will knock on doors to review and reinforce virus prevention measures. The Health System asks for your support in giving them access to the patio and common areas of your house. You can easily identify Health personnel by their yellow jacket. Also, they must have visible official identification. If they do not show you their ID, for security’s sake do not let them in.
In addition to checking patios and gardens, spatial nebulization will also be used in different parts of the city. This fumigation is to stop mosquito breeding.
What are the symptoms of dengue following a mosquito bite?
Symptoms can appear seven to 10 days after being bitten. They include high fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, nausea and vomiting, rash, and pain behind the eyes. If you present any of these symptoms, go to your nearest health center. It is recommended that people wear long-sleeved clothing and pants, and apply mosquito repellent during dengue mosquito season.
What can I do to keep these mosquitos away?
These mosquitos breed mostly in containers of clean, stagnant water that has been sitting for more than a week. That is why it is advisable to wash buckets, tanks, water tanks, vases, and all kinds of containers that accumulate water. Containers that store water must be covered. Turn buckets, drums, or tubs upside down, and throw away bottles, tires, cans, or dishes that are not being used and that may hold water.
