San Miguel de Allende is crazy about sports. The city has 189 sports venues. There are 111 soccer fields, a baseball stadium, a soccer stadium, three parks, and 82 multipurpose spaces spread out in different neighborhoods and rural communities.
In recent weeks, Mayor Mauricio Trejo, has overseen the beginning of the construction of a new Municipal Sports Unit in Bicentennial Park. This project marks the 60th public improvement project initiated by the mayor. The Trejo government has allocated more than 100 million pesos to this project. When finished, it will be the largest sports facility in San Miguel and one of the best sports venues in Central Mexico. The new facility will have a new sports enclosure, pickleball courts, an indoor soccer field, a professional soccer field and a children’s play area equipped with slides, swings and jungle gym.
