Guadalajara Open concludes
In the first WTA 1000 category tournament in Latin America, the GDL Open AKRON, the American Jessica Pegula was proclaimed champion after defeating the Greek Maria Sakkari with 6-2 and 6-3.
Maria Sakkari, who was the Mexican public’s favorite, was unable to overcome the high level shown by the American, who became the first Guadalajara Open champion and also won her first WTA 1000 title.
Undoubtedly, the first edition of the Guadalajara Open was a great success and Mexico proved once again what a great host it is, which has led to an analysis of the option of keeping the tournament as a WTA 1000 on the circuit.
«Checo» Perez and Red Bull world champions
Sergio «Checo» Pérez and Red Bull become world champions of Formula 1, the highest category of motor racing.
After the result of the United States Grand Prix, Red Bull was proclaimed constructors’ world champion after eight years of dominance by the Mercedes team.
With this result, «Checo» Perez became the first Mexican driver to achieve this distinction, for which he declared to be «very proud».
Undoubtedly, Perez was a key piece to achieve this for Red Bull and for his teammate Max Verstappen to achieve his two drivers’ world championships.
Historic season for the Mexican driver!
The last World Cup of the Messi – Cristiano era
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will have their last chance to lift the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
Qatar 2022 will be the last World Cup in which Messi and Cristiano, the two players who dominated soccer in the last decade, will participate. It will be a World Cup of nostalgia knowing that the era of these two soccer «phenoms» is coming to an end.
Cristiano Ronaldo arrives in Qatar after a rather irregular season and a Portuguese national team that is not playing its best soccer. On the other hand, Lionel Messi and Argentina are going through a great moment and are favorites to win the World Cup, being the current champions of America.
Will Messi or Cristiano be able to lift the long-awaited World Cup?
La Liga’s domination of the Ballon d’Or
Karim Benzema became the winner of the Ballon d’Or 2022, after his brilliant season with Real Madrid.
The French player won his first Ballon d’Or this 2022, which means that since 2009 the Ballon d’Or winner is from La Liga.
Since 2009 with Lionel Messi and that mythical Barcelona, only players from Barcelona or Real Madrid have won this recognition.
Lionel Messi (Barcelona) in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2021.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
Luka Modric (Real Madrid) in 2018 and Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) in 2022, without forgetting that the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This shows the high level of players in the Spanish league, which has dominated this gala for the last 13 years.
