Tigres are the champions of Mexican soccer

The UANL Tigres, led by Robert Dante Siboldi, were crowned champions of Liga MX, after defeating Guadalajara.

In one of the best Liga MX finals in recent years, the Tigres achieved revenge against Chivas Guadalajara at the Akron Stadium in an impressive manner.

The match began with a spectacular atmosphere, which only the fans of the rebaño (herd) can provide, in a stadium that was packed to capacity. Chivas began winning the match with a goal by Roberto Alvarado early in minute 11. Then Victor Guzmán made it 2-0 at minute 20. It seemed that Guadalajara had tied the match and would take the cup. In the second half, Siboldi’s men came out looking for a goal. At 65′, Gignac scored the first of what would be a historic comeback, but only until Córdova tied the match at 71′.

At the end of the 90 minutes of regular time, the match went to extra time, where everything would be decided. At minute 110, Guido Pizarro headed in the third goal for the «felines.» This meant the eighth star in the history of the UANL Tigres.

The Tigres, an epochal team that never ceases to surprise us, and Chivas, with a young squad of pure Mexicans, return after so many years of obscurity to compete as the great team that they are. This was a truly exciting final and a clear example of how wonderful soccer is.

Congratulations, Tigres, for a worthy and deserved championship!

Rodrigo Pacheco, the world’s best junior tennis player

The 18-year-old Mexican youngster reached the top of the ITF (International Tennis Federation) junior ranking after winning the Bonfiglio Trophy in Milan, one of the most important tournaments in junior tennis.

The young Yucatecan makes history for junior tennis, as he is the first Mexican to become number one in the world. It was a great match for the Mexican who in two straight sets defeated the American Cooper Williams 6-4 and 7-5 in the final to be crowned champion of the Italian tournament and also to be placed first in the ranking (a position he secured from the semifinals).

It was a great achievement of Rodrigo Pacheco, in one of the most important junior tournaments, where great tennis players have been champions such as Lendl, Almagro, and Tsitsipas, among others.

Mexican pride! Future champion!

Max Verstappen wins the Monaco Grand Prix

Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen won the Monaco Grand Prix and continues his quest for a three-time world championship in Formula 1.

The Monaco Grand Prix is considered by many as the most important F1 Grand Prix and one of the most complicated, but this was not an obstacle for Verstappen, who swept all before him and finished first, followed by Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon.

On the other hand, his teammate Sergio Pérez, who had been champion in 2022, did not have his best weekend, as a crash in qualifying made him start last on the grid, to finish sixteenth in the race.

With this result, Dutch Max Verstappen maintains his lead in the Drivers’ World Championship with 144 points, followed by Mexican Sergio Pérez with 105 points. In third place is Fernando Alonso with 93 points and below him, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, etc.

Red Bull continues unstoppable in the Constructors’ World Championship with 235 points, followed by Aston Martin with 116 points and Mercedes AMG with 112 points.

The next big Formula 1 event is the Spanish Grand Prix, where we will again see action from the top class of motorsport.

Can anyone beat Verstappen?

Do you know Luton Town?

Luton is a small town in southern England with just over 200,000 inhabitants. There, Luton Town Football Club was founded in April 1885, following a combination of the town’s two best teams (Luton Wanderers and Luton Excelsior).

The team remained in the promotion categories for more than 70 years. In the 50s and 70s, they achieved promotion to the first division, with seventh place as their best league result. In 1988, they were crowned champions of the League Cup against Arsenal, this being the most important trophy in their history.

After managerial mismanagement and financial and sporting problems, the team was relegated to the fifth division in 2009. For many, it was only expected to disappear.

In 2023, Luton Town made history and, for the first time since its foundation as Premier League, was promoted to the highest category of English soccer after defeating Coventry in the final of the Playoffs at the historic Wembley in front of 85 thousand fans.

A team with a stadium for 10 thousand fans, that played in the fifth division until 10 years ago, now makes history and will play in the best league in the world, the Premier League.

Amazing history!
