Novak Djokovic, champion of the Australian Open

Novak Djokovic defeated Stéfanos Tsitsipás and won the Australian Open for the tenth time.

The Serbian tennis player beat Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (7/5) and won not only his tenth Australian Open but also his 22nd Grand Slam, tying Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal as the player with the most Grand Slam titles in history.

A year after being deported from Australia for refusing to take the vaccine against COVID-19, Djokovic was crowned champion in Melbourne and not only that, he also regained the number one position in the ATP ranking leaving behind Carlos Alcaraz who occupied that position and due to an injury could not play in Australia.

The Oceanic tour ended, the Serbian tennis player closed in the best way and continues to make tennis history, establishing himself as one of the best tennis players of all time.

The question is, how many Grand Slams will «Nole» finish with?

Eagles vs. Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII

The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Super Bowl LVII after the Eagles eliminated the San Francisco 49ers and the Chiefs eliminated the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Philadelphia Eagles return to a Super Bowl after five years where they defeated Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.

On the other hand, the Kansas City Chiefs were in the Super Bowl a couple of years ago where they lost to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Super Bowl is one of the most awaited and most watched sporting events of the year and in 2023 we will have a great show—two strong teams looking to touch the glory and a halftime with Rihanna as the protagonist.

An event that no one can miss, Eagles vs. Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, on Sunday, February 12. Who will be the champion at State Farm Stadium?

We have Super Bowl!

Alliance between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF for the 2026 World Cup

Finally, the rumors about this situation were confirmed—CONCACAF and CONMEBOL made their alliance official.

Thanks to this alliance between the two confederations, the Copa America will return to U.S. territory as happened in 2016 with the Copa América Centenario which Chile won on penalties against Argentina.

Copa América 2024 will feature the 10 South American teams and six CONCACAF teams, which will qualify through the CONCACAF Nations League where the United States is the current champion.

It was also announced that four CONMEBOL women’s teams (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Paraguay) will be invited to the 2024 Women’s Gold Cup. CONCACAF will have eight women’s teams for this tournament.

The alliance also includes a club tournament between Concacaf and Conmebol. This tournament will bring together two CONMEBOL clubs and two CONCACAF clubs and will be played starting in 2024.

Excellent news for Mexican soccer which urgently needed to compete with dignity and prepare itself properly for the 2026 World Cup, where we will be one of the hosts.

Mexico returns to the Copa América!

Chivas and Tigres, among the top 20 women’s teams in the world

The Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), as it does every year, revealed the best women’s clubs in the world. Among the top 20 teams are Chivas and Tigres of Liga MX Femenil.

Chivas appear in 17th place being the best-ranked Mexican team on the list and above clubs such as Manchester City, Boca Juniors, Atlético de Madrid and so forth.

On the other hand, Tigres is in 20th place being the second best positioned Mexican team on the list.

The IFFHS list is based on the performance of each institution in the last year which is why Chivas was recognized for the league title in the Apertura 2022 tournament and the Champion of Champions 2021-2022.

The list is headed by FC Barcelona, followed by Chelsea, Olympique Lyonnais, Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich, PSG, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Roma, Juventus, Palmeiras, Benfica, Corinthians, Rosengard, Levante, St. Pölten, Guadalajara, Manchester City, Slavia Praha, and Tigres.
