Day of the Dead in Sight!
The popular Day of the Dead tradition honors the faithful departed for two days in Mexico. According to México Desconocido magazine, there are 59 very large celebrations in Mexico around these dates, but here we recommend at least 11 places in the country where the Day of the Dead is an ancestral social practice, alive, deep and belonging to the people: Oaxaca, Merida, Guanajuato, Pomuch-Campeche, Aguascalientes, Cuernavaca, Janitzio-Michoacan, Zinacantan, Chiapas, San Miguel de Allende, and Mexico City, where in addition to enjoying the mega parade, you can visit the traditional celebration of Mixquic in the municipality of Tlahuac.

The Three Amigos
Through his Twitter account, AMLO assured readers that a telephone conversation he had with President Biden last week was cordial and included discussions about migration and security issues. He also announced that Biden would attend the North American Leaders’ Summit (also called the Three Amigos Summit), which will be hosted by Mexico for the first time in eight years. The country leaders will review the free trade agreement and discuss energy policy disputes. Migration will be another priority issue for the two leaders.

Sixty Years Ago, We Were in the Middle of the «Cold War»
Sixty years ago, in October 1962, the world was on the brink of nuclear war with the United States and the Soviet Union, locked in a confrontation at the height of the Cold War. The crisis lasted 13 days before the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics backed down and withdrew missiles from Cuba in exchange for a U.S. promise not to invade the Caribbean island and a secret agreement to dismantle U.S. Jupiter missiles that had been installed in Turkey and which were capable of hitting Soviet territory within minutes in the event of a confrontation.

Meeting Between the Municipal President and Members of the Rotary Club
Last week the Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende Midday received Municipal President Mauricio Trejo Pureco at the Santa Ana Theater, where he conveyed what he has accomplished to benefit the people of San Miguel during his first year of governing. The mayor explained the importance of maintaining a safe San Miguel. Unlike some of our neighbors, we have achieved a good situation that has allowed the municipality to attract very important national and international investments. Another relevant point highlighted by Trejo was the importance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), both economically and socially.

This Weekend is the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Mexico City
The Mexican Grand Prix has become one of the most important sporting events in the country. Since the return of Formula 1 to Aztec territory in 2015, the GPMX has been a success both on the track and economically. In a press release, the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO) said that the estimated economic revenue from the Mexican Grand Prix is 15,536 millions and 705,000 pesos for Mexico City. Likewise, a total of 124,000 tourists are expected to arrive in Mexico City during the week of the race. For this weekend, there is great anticipation for the performance of Mexican driver Sergio Perez, who is currently competing for second place in Formula 1.
Zazil’s Voyage
As part of the Day of the Dead celebrations in San Miguel de Allende, don’t miss the staging of «Zazil’s Voya,» a play written and directed by Tomás Burkey that combines various multidimensional techniques, the artist’s trademark.
Zazil is a girl who travels through the underworld and is played by San Miguel artist Jenny Salas. Other artists from San Miguel include Alejandra Jiménez Aguilera, Daniela Méndez Lugo, and Magdalena Yáñez Carbajal, as well as international talent Sasha Black.
The soundtrack is provided by the exceptional keyboardist Star Goes Nova, who has composed the music exclusively for this show and is visiting us especially from California.
