Merida, Yucatan – Bajio, Guanajuato
Volaris will begin operating a new air route on November 18 between Guanajuato and Mérida from the Bajío International Airport (BJX). Flights will be offered on Mondays and Fridays to the Yucatan capital and gateway to the Mayan world. Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Yucatan’s secretary of tourism development, also pointed out that flights connecting BJX to the Querétaro airport will soon be re-activated.
Guanajuato Seeks to Provide Economic Benefits to Wine Sector
In San Miguel de Allende, the National Conference of Governors (CONAGO) met to discuss a package of fiscal measures to benefit the wine sector and make the wines of Mexico more competitive in the international market. During the conference, the governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, announced the plan to promote the wine sector—a plan made up of five main chapters that will be under review throughout 2023 with the authorities and businesses of all 32 states.
Izcuinapan Room Inaugurated in Casa de Allende Museum
The inauguration of the Izcuinapan Regional Archeology Room at the Casa de Allende Museum was attended by anthropologist Diego Prieto Hernández, general director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), along with other officials of the institute, members of state and municipal government, and those from the cultural field and the stewardship of the community of Cruz del Palmar. This innovative space will include a permanent exhibit of a valuable archaeological collection gathered and sheltered in the middle of the 20th century by the Sanmiguelense Miguel Malo Zozaya, who for years studied and disseminated the regional prehispanic history, especially that that flourished for hundreds of years in the middle section of the Laja River.
UNESCO Day
On November 4 of each year, the Day of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is celebrated. On this occasion the achievements made by the organization are recognized. The founding vision of UNESCO was born in response to the second world war. At the end of the armed conflict, the governments of European countries met in England to establish an organization for educational and cultural promotion, contributing as far as possible to a true world peace culture. UNESCO came into operation on November 4, 1946, with the support of 37 countries, including Mexico.
Ten Years of Caminos de Agua
Caminos de Agua celebrates its 10th year anniversary. They will share activities, actions, and programs related to technological development and implementation of projects in communities, mainly in the northern region of the state of Guanajuato; education and the development of studies; and evaluation and monitoring of water quality. We offer congratulations to all those who have participated with this exemplary organization: community collaborators, advisors, members of the board of directors, former team members, founders, volunteers, and colleagues from the communities.
