Citi-Banamex finally has an owner
After a year of being for sale, Citi has chosen the “winning bid” for the sale of Banamex. It is being sold to Germán Larrea, owner of Grupo México and the second richest man in the country. According to journalist Dario Celis, the businessman, who has an estimated fortune of US$28.1 billion, only needs to “get rid” of some of the financial institution’s conditions by presenting a purchase proposal for almost US$11 billion. Although it did not reach the US$15 billion sought by the seller, it would be enough for Citi to consider itself well paid. Source: El Economista.
