Guanajuato’s air routes grow

As of July 10, Volaris will include flights to the State of Guanajuato from Acapulco, Ciudad Obregón, Culiacán, Hermosillo, La Paz, Los Mochis, Mazatlán, Oaxaca, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Torreón, Veracruz and Zihuatanejo. These routes are in addition to the 9 already existing in the state, which are Mexico City, Monterrey, Tijuana, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Ciudad Juarez, Los Cabos, Mexicali and Merida. Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State, emphasized that these new routes, together with the existing ones, will significantly connect the State with the country, going from offering 9 to 21 domestic destinations.

Changes in Sapasma’s regulations

During the inauguration of the Beyond Water 2023 event, the municipal president of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo, pointed out that with the approval of the new regulations of the San Miguel de Allende Potable Water and Sewage System (Sapasma), the Municipal Government continues to work. After the City Council voted overwhelmingly in favor of the reform to Article 242 of Sapasma’s regulations, all subdivisions and housing developments must have a wastewater treatment plant and stop discharging to municipal sewage networks.

National World Heritage Congress

Guanajuato Capital will host the 7th Edition of the National Congress of World Heritage of the State of Guanajuato, in the framework of the 35th anniversary of the city as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, announced that the congress will be held on July 6 and 7 at the Alhóndiga de Granaditas. During the event, the «7 de Julio» Medal will be awarded to two Mexicans whose professional careers benefit Mexico’s heritage: Dr. Alberto González Pozo and Dr. Leonardo López Luján.

Querétaro will host the International Book and Audiovisual Media Fair 2023

From June 14 to 18, 2023, the first edition of the International Book and Audiovisual Media Fair (FILMAQ) will be held in Querétaro at the Gómez Morín State Educational and Cultural Center. During the fair, which will be free admission, 125 events will be held. Guests include writers Guillermo Arriaga, Santiago Roncagliolo and José Ignacio Valenzuela «Chascas», filmmakers Luis Téllez, Carlos Pérez Osorio and Samuel Kishi, and musicians Cecilia Toussaint, Luis Pescetti Son Rompe Pera, among others.

Support the San Miguel Fire Department

The Honorable, Historic and Heroic Fire Department of San Miguel de Allende will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. In order to raise funds to improve its operation, the directors, promoters and sponsors are organizing a series of events. The «Este Cuerpo es Tuyo» event will take place next Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 6pm, at the Centro de Convenciones la Casona, located at Josefina Orozco 2, Salida a Celaya. The event will include live music with Black Yelvet, fire cooking, 4-course dinner and an art auction. The donation is $2,000 pesos, so be sure to support!

Beyond Water 2023 in San Miguel

The Government of the State of Guanajuato inaugurated Beyond Water 2023 in San Miguel de Allende, an international event that promotes mindfacture as a premise for water sustainability in the state. The Secretary of Social and Human Development (SEDESHU), Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, headed the protocol ceremony that kicked off a series of activities held from May 31 to June 2. In addition to Israel, the guest of honor, Colombia, Spain, the United States, the Netherlands and Sweden also participated. The closing ceremony was led by the Governor of the State of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo.
