The Locos Parade 

This is one of the happiest traditions in San Miguel; a festivity with more than 70 years of history. The 2023 Festivity Treat, known as the «Locos Parade,» in honor of San Antonio de Padua of the San Antonio Parish, will be held on Sunday, June 18 at 10am. It will leave Salida a Celaya, and advance through Ancha de San Antonio, Zacateros, Canal, Hernández Macías, Insurgentes, Pepe Llanos, Mesones, Núñez, San Francisco, Main Square and the Jardin Principal. Do not miss it!

Keys of the Interoceanic Corridor in Veracruz

The Inter-Oceanic or Trans-Isthmic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec is a project on par with the importance of the Mayan Train, developed by the López Obrador government. The project seeks to create a network in this region of the country; and to connect the coast of the Pacific Ocean with the Gulf of Mexico through a railway. Section 1 or line Z: Salina Cruz (Oaxaca)-Coatzacoalcos (Veracruz); Section 2 or line FA: Coatzacoalcos (Veracruz)-Palenque (Chiapas); Section 3 or line K: Ixtepec (Oaxaca)-Ciudad Hidalgo (Chiapas). The first section to be inaugurated in the coming months will link the port of Coatzacoalcos (Gulf of Mexico) with the port of Salina Cruz (Pacific) by rail.

Bajio International Film Festival

For the third consecutive year, the BJX Bajío International Film Festival will celebrate films—considered the seventh art—from June 13 to 17 in the city of Guanajuato. It is a benchmark city in the Bajío region and throughout the country, with the highest commitment to culture and artistic expression in the community. This year the BJX, with the motto «Guanajuato Cinema-Cervantina City of America» will focus on the culture of inclusion, tolerance and diversity. In addition, in this edition, the United States and Coyoacán will be the country and the mayor’s office as guests of honor. This was announced by Jorge Cabrejos Samamé, director of Marketing, of the State Secretary of Tourism, and Alejandro Navarro Saldaña, mayor of the city of Guanajuato.

“Adopt a Tree” Campaign

Within the context of World Environment Day, the municipal administration started the «Adopt a Tree» campaign to promote the natural environment of San Miguel and environs. The Environment and Sustainability Offices are planning to deliver at least 10,000 native trees, and they seeks to involve citizens in the care and preservation of nature. To access the adoption of trees, any San Miguel citizen must appear at Parque Bicentenario La Corregidora (Carretera San Miguel de Allende – Dr. Mora, 37748) with a photo ID (INE, school ID or applicable document) and then send a photograph of the planting of said tree in the place of your choice.

Guanajuato is nominated with the Heel Awards, 7th Edition

The award recognizes national destinations, and organizations for having demonstrated excellence in development, implementation, training, and creating business opportunities within the meetings industry. It includes the fields of best practices, service, marketing, sales, promotion, and positioning brands. The State of Guanajuato has six Meeting Tourism destinations: León, Silao, Irapuato, Celaya, San Miguel de Allende and the city of Guanajuato. These municipalities offer 11 venues dedicated to this segment, including Poliforum León, San Cristóbal Center, Inforum , Convention Centers, Double Tree By Hilton Hotel, Guanajuato Bicentennial Park, La Casona, Live Aqua Hotel and Aromo.

Wines from Guanajuato win awards at Decanter

The Decanter wine contest is known for its rigorous testing process and impartiality. For many wine connoisseurs and experts, this English contest is the most valuable for wine producing houses globally. Winning wines in this contest gain significant recognition in the wine industry around the world. For the 2023 edition, Guanajuato was the state in Mexico that received the most awards: Cuna de Tierra with seven (Gran Pago de Vega, Cuna de Tierra Nebbiolo, Syrah, Malben, M Cúbica Blend and Tierra de Ángeles); Viñedos San Miguel with four (Beating, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Piedra de Oro); and San José Lavista with one (Merlot).
