In the next edition of “Art San Miguel Contemporary Art Fair & Jazz” in the SOMA District, we will enjoy a great musical repertoire. The Jazz & Blues Festival is being added this year with three first-class concerts. According to the Art Fair, they will consist of a series of thematic concerts. The opening event will be on January 12, at 6pm, titled “An Evening of Swing.” The second is Thursday, January 19 at 5pm with “Contemporary Jazz.” The closing of the Fair will be by “Soul, R & B, Jazz Funk,” performed on Sunday, January 22 at 1pm. The closing concert will surely be a high-quality event for the entire family.

The curatorship of these concerts aims to strengthen the link between fine arts and music. The idea is to provide various concerts which allow us to get to know different styles of jazz. These include swing, which was the most representative music of the 30s and 40s, and the time when great composers forged a large piece of musical history—which became known as jazz. Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin were among those musicians.

Jazz is a mixture of African, European, and Latin music. Over time, it developed various rhythmic, harmonic, and instrumental characteristics. Jazz has spontaneity and improvisation as its fundamental axis. Antonio Lozoya, director of the Jazz & Blues Festival, spoke to us and shared his thoughts. He explained that we will have the opportunity to hear national and international musicians. These special guests will offer the San Miguel public unforgettable artistic experiences.
