“We are people who have been affected and transformed by loss, grief, death, and by Elisabeth’s work. As a result, we have this in common and are deeply committed to evolving the current culture of death.”
Janosh Chassan
“We need time to move through the pain of loss. We need to get into it. Really get to know it, so we can learn.”
Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
The Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation Mexico Centro is precisely that: a foundation. Sometimes, however, it’s necessary to remind ourselves that these associations are within our reach and are there to help us live better lives, depending on one’s approach. In this case, the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation specializes in the evolution of the culture of death: Good living, good dying, how to cope with grief, and how we transform ourselves after living through this process.
President Wilka Roig is a transpersonal psychologist, and, among many other things, her strengths bring to the team her knowledge of ecopsychology, the neurobiology of trauma, loss and relationships, conscious life and death. Felix Chancellor, vice president, is an archetypal-jungian psychotherapist, and somatic and body-mind-movement therapist who works towards one goal: to bring change and healing on an emotional, physical, and spiritual level. Marisol Maldonado, secretary, collaborates as ethnohistorian, transpersonal therapist, facilitator of death rites, and healing with obsidian geometries. Marisol works as a compassionate companion of people in their life transits, and in ther personal and spiritual growth. Jessica Miramontes, who is treasurer, uses dance therapy and is a dream specialist. Janosh Chassan and Ken Ross are spokespeople contributing different skills who also complement the team. Ken Ross is Elisabeth’s son and therefore a founder as well.
Rounding out the team are Pepe Valencia, a gerontologist and thanatologist; Deanna Cochran, a leading voice in the movement to die well; Amy Wright Glenn, a Kripalu Yoga teacher and specialist on childbirth and death; and Luisa Ruiz, a death facilitator, leader separation bereavement workshops, and compassionate companion for older adults with chronic illnesses. They are all counselors help guide you with their skills through the process you need to deal with.
So, in San Miguel, this foundation is dedicated to modifying and improving the culture we have around death, loss, and bereavement, since it’s a topic that’s still not talked about enough. Janosh Chassan shares that the doors of the foundation are open for those who need guidance in this hard process.
